Bridge

Timing & Duration: 1 week before Fall Semester & Weekly / Biweekly during First Year at UAA and UAF

Dorm Experience: Not Required

ANSEP Bridge focuses on developing first-year ANSEP University Success students academically, socially, and professionally for college and careers. Bridge is a year-long college and career skill building experience focused on students who are graduating high school this academic year as they transition to degree seeking students at the University of Alaska. Bridge student are automatically enrolled into the ANSEP University Success component at UAA and UAF. During their first year in ANSEP University Success, Bridge students have the opportunity to develop the key skills to support academic success; complete internships in the engineering, science, or business fields with ANSEP Strategic Partners; and develop a wide network of supportive students, staff, and mentors. Students who are accepted into and successfully complete Bridge are eligible for additional scholarship funding to attend the University of Alaska.

Bridge students will:

  • Develop skills to support academic, social, and professional success
  • Explore careers in STEM and business fields
  • Build a network of professional mentors
  • Learn to navigate the University campus
  • Earn scholarships and campus housing support at the University of Alaska
  • Develop lifelong friendships and peer support with fellow ANSEP students

Location:

ANSEP Bridge will be during the fall and spring semesters of students’ first year as ANSEP University Success  students. Bridge will start one week before the fall 2026 semester. Then, weekly or biweekly skill building sessions will be held throughout the fall and spring semesters. Exact dates and times are TBD. Bridge programming will take place at both the UAA and UAF campuses. Placement will be based on which campus students are attending next fall.

Who should apply to Bridge?

  • Students graduating high school this academic year 
  • Students who have participated in other ANSEP pre-college components (Not required)
  • Students admitted and committed to attend UAA or UAF
  • Students enrolled (or planning to enroll) in one of the ANSEP-approved Degree Programs
  • Preference will be given to students that are “freshmen” ready for the ANSEP-approved degree programs at UAA or UAF

Submit all application documents together. Only complete applications will be considered. Please organize all the required documents prior to initiating this application form. 

Required application documents include:

  1. Student application form (below)
  2. All high school academic records (transcripts, grades, test scores, etc.) Note: If you’ve previously completed college courses at the University of Alaska (or other), please attach transcripts of the course(s) and grade(s) received 
  3. Current ALEKS Math Test Scores (if never taken a college math course) OR university transcripts showing highest college math course completed. For more info on ALEKS, please visit https://www.alaska.edu/aleks/
  4. Current Resumé (please use the template outlined below) that must include 3 references
  5. Current Cover Letter (please use the template outlined below)

Priority Application Deadline is March 31, 2026. Late applications may be accepted until all space is filled. 

Priority Deadline applicants should expect to receive an application status update no later than May 1, 2026.
