Acceleration Ready (Math & English)

Acceleration Ready English students participate in a 1- to 2-week MATH & ENGLISH experience designed to provide students with an introduction to the ANSEP Acceleration Academy component and engage in hands-on, problem-solving projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers.

Acceleration Ready MATH & ENGLISH students will learn how to effectively navigate the UAA Math & English Placement testing platform called ALEKS (Math) and College Board ACCUPLACER (English) and learn about the resources available to meet or exceed the ANSEP Acceleration Academy’s minimum Math placement requirement (MATH 105 – Intermediate Algebra) and minimum English placement requirement (WRTG 111 – Writing Across Contexts).

ANSEP Acceleration Academy students enroll in college coursework the moment they begin high school and go from eighth grade to completing a bachelor’s degree in six years.

Dates & Location

The 2022 Acceleration Ready (Math & English) sessions are not yet available. Information regarding the 2022 Acceleration Ready sessions will be available around spring 2022.

Application Process

There is no application process to participate in Acceleration Ready Sessions. Students are selected for Acceleration Ready based off of their application to the Acceleration Academy (Full-time) components in Anchorage, Mat-Su, or Bethel.

Students who do no meet the minimum Math and/or English Placement requirements will be invited to participate in Acceleration Ready sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who should apply for Acceleration Ready?

Current eighth through eleventh grade students who are interested in applying for ANSEP Acceleration Academy (Anchorage, Mat-Su, or Bethel) should apply for Acceleration Ready. ANSEP Acceleration Academy students take college courses throughout high school and can earn three years or more of college credits at no cost.

Can I participate in more than one session of Acceleration Ready?

A student may participate in multiple sessions of Acceleration Ready until their desired placement scores are met.

What is the difference between Acceleration Ready Math and Acceleration Ready English?

Acceleration Ready MATH focuses on an introduction to and navigation of McGraw Hill’s ALEKS math assessment test.

Acceleration Ready ENGLISH focuses on an introduction to and navigation of College Board’s ACCUPLACER assessment test.

Both opportunities also include an introduction to the ANSEP Acceleration Academy component and engage in hands-on, problem-solving projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers.

Do I receive any college credits for attending Acceleration Ready?

No. Students are introduced to ANSEP’s collaborative model and how it helps students to be successful in completing college courses.
